Stable Lives Safer Streets

Generating new and cutting-edge evidence around youth crime prevention

What we do

Who we are

We are a research hub, with 19 team members, working in the area of youth crime and criminal exploitation. We are a collaboration between three organisations, the University of Limerick, Queen’s University Belfast and the Centre for Effective Services.

What we are working to achieve

The aim of the Stable Lives Safer Streets policy-led, cross-border research hub is to deliver policy relevant, scientifically supported, and practically oriented approaches to understanding and responding to youth crime, criminal exploitation, and community safety.

The four key objectives of the hub are:

1.

Meaningfully and materially strengthen the collaboration between two research institutions (University of Limerick & Queen’s University Belfast) that have demonstrable expertise in youth justice, violence prevention, illicit networks and criminal exploitation

2.

Generate and embed evidence in policy and practice

3.

Improve the traction of evidence in responses to youth crime on both sides of the border by skillful application of public health and implementation science in conjunction with partners the Centre for Effective Services

4.

Codesign and deliver learning mechanisms, utilising a range of academic and non-academic fora at local, national and international events

The SLSS research hub is a focal point for evidence based youth crime prevention.

We are a source for research insights, learning resources and capacity building opportunities.
