Project description
The project team in CES is undertaking a range of research projects to build a body of evidence on the development and implementation of social policy in a multistakeholder environment. The aim is to understand what supports the successful implementation of government policy and what implementation-ready social policy looks like. In addition to capturing the learning from the Stable Lives, Safer Streets Programme and CES’ seventeen years of working in the field of implementation, this project includes the following research projects:
- Policy maker and policy implementer consultation: interviews and ongoing engagement with policymakers and policy implementers in Northern Ireland and Ireland to inform the development of a resource.
- A review of the evidence on what policy science and implementation science contribute to the challenges of policy implementation.
- A review of the evidence on what supports good cross-departmental policy development and implementation.
The goal of the project is to develop a resource that will support policymakers to produce social policy that is informed by what we know about the enablers and barriers to successful policy implementation.
