Antoinette's Biography

Antoinette is striving to build excellence frameworks for the for the incorporation of Geographical information systems (GIS) and spatial analysis, with regards to social studies and their impact on health and violence. She is currently working on the Twin Sight North project which is assessing the feasibility of replicating the Twin Sight methodology of the Greentown Study (2016 – 2026, conducted in the South of Ireland) in the North of Ireland. Currently a Research Fellow at Queen’s University Belfast working within the Stable Lives Safer Streets North/South Research Hub. Antoinette is working with fellow academics and researchers at QUB and Limerick striving to investigate the effectiveness of focused deterrence in Northern Ireland. Antoinette has been involved with academic and strategic development in the education sector with over 19 years’ experience in an academic and business environment. Experience includes lecturing, tutorial groups, laboratory experimentation, line management of staff, seminar teaching and supervision on research projects. Antoinette has a passion for the incorporation of Geographical Information Systems into multiple settings and designed and implemented the teaching of a Master’s GIS course for Civil Engineers. She has been a Nuffield/Sentinus Mentor for students from local schools helping them develop proposals for real-world research. Antoinette was successfully awarded three postdoctoral projects

  • The application of geostatistical analysis to the prediction and modeling of the decay dynamics of masonry materials
  • Knowledge Transfer Secondment with industrial partner Stone Conservation Services, Consarc Design Group
  • EU INTERREG IVA programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body in Northern Ireland in coordination with The Geological Survey of Northern Ireland (GSNI), the Geological Survey of Ireland (GSI) and the British Geological Survey (BGS) – The Tellus Border Project (£4.5m funded project) – involving extensive survey development, community consultation and statistical analysis for carbon stock calculations and their associated human impact. TELLUS project involved;
    • vertical aerial and satellite imagery data,
    • Geostatistical analysis of environmental data.
